The Science of LED Light Therapy
How specific wavelengths of light interact with skin at the cellular level — and why the frequency matters as much as the intensity.
LED (Light Emitting Diode) therapy — also called photobiomodulation — uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate biological processes in skin tissue. Unlike UV light, which damages DNA, the wavelengths used in LED therapy fall within a range that has been studied for their ability to interact with cellular components without causing harm.
The key principle is that different wavelengths penetrate skin to different depths, and at each depth they interact with different cellular targets. This is why wavelength selection is the most important variable in LED device design — not chip count alone, not power alone, but the specific frequencies delivered.

415 nm — Blue Light
Blue light at 415 nm operates at a shallow depth in the skin. It is one of the shorter wavelengths used in LED therapy and is included in the ZIVA system as part of a multi-frequency approach to comprehensive skin treatment.
